Why We Do It

If every journey has a first step, we urge you to take it.

If we were to speak now about the essence of what we are trying to do at Manzil, what we are really interested in is “Education for Responsibility.” We liken the expanding influence of Manzil to the effect of a stone thrown in a pond. When a pebble hits a still pond, the waves travel outward in countless concentric circles larger and larger in size even as they turn quieter and quieter in intensity. If Manzil is the pebble, our students are the waves, carrying the sense of responsibility, curiosity, inquisitiveness, and drive that they acquire here at Manzil. This expansion of the circle is theoretically limitless, for it goes far beyond what is visible to us here. Nevertheless, it starts with the Self. Learning and developing a set of tools to help them succeed in their own artistic, social, and entrepreneurial pursuits is an essential goal. But beyond the desire to improve the self is the desire to improve their larger communities. And so, these circles of influence extend outward to our students’ families, neighbourhoods, villages, country, world, and cosmos in ever larger, if more nuanced circles.
